Learning To Drive
Learning to drive can be a challenging and confusing time in your life, however the reward of independence and freedom is what drives so many people to take this life changing journey. This brief overview will hopefully allow you as a pupil to gain a better understanding of what is required for you to be able to begin driving:

Age Requirements
In order to start driving in the UK, you must be 17 years or older at the time of you starting your driving lessons
Provisional Driving License
To begin driving on the road legally, you must first obtain a Provisional Driving License. This will then allow you to undertake driving lessons under approved supervision.
Theory Test
Before you can apply for your practical driving test. You will need to undertake a theory test which entails a theory section and hazard perception section.

Driving Lessons and Pratice
In order to get to the required standard for taking your practical driving test, you must first spend a number of hours gaining experience on the road. Currently the Driving & Vehicle Standard Agency estimate that most students take on average between 50-60 driving hours to be test ready.
Practical Driving Test
The final stage of your journey will be to take your practical driving test. The test will normally last around 40 minutes and will assess a number of your driving skills which you will have developed over your time learning.
